I first met Guido by pure coincidence in Moscow at the end of August 1997. I was there for business and Guido and his team were in Russia for a race, staying in the same hotel as mine, so I could not resist and introduced myself as a motor sport fan who knew Guido only by his reputation (at that time he had already won four consecutive world titles in F1): he was very friendly with me and we had a few drinks together, speaking about our common passion for racing. Since then Guido and I met a few more times, at MotoGP and F1H2O races, and became friends. As a sportsman Guido has been the best powerboat driver ever and as a manager he has surely become the best as well. He has organized the most professional team in F1H2O, the Abu Dhabi Team, and his commitment, competence and professionalism, together with his attention to every small detail and his obsession for perfection are rare qualities in this sport. Guido also builds the best racing boats in F1 and has used his experience, technical skills and ingenuity not only to boost their performances but also, and most important, to improve the overall safety of powerboat racing, for the sake of this exciting sport in general.
